Closure of Strait of Hormuz could imperil humanitarian operations, UN says
A leading United Nations humanitarian official has warned that closure of the Strait of Hormuz could have an “immense impact” on humanitarian operations, reports Reuters.
“When ships stop moving through that Strait, the consequences travel fast. Food, medicine, fertiliser and other supplies become harder to move and more expensive to deliver,” Tom Fletcher, the UN under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator, said in a statement.
