ISLAMABAD: The Robbery and Dacoity Unit (RDU) of the capital police busted gangs of bank and house robbers besides solving a blind murder case.

At a news conference held at Rescue 15, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Jawad Tariq said following directions from Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi to make Islamabad a crime-free city, the police used modern technology and human intelligence and arrested suspects.

The DIG said that on Feb 16, a private bank located in Kohsar police jurisdiction was robbed. Police registered a case and launched an investigation.

The bank robbers’ gang was traced in a short period of time using modern technical tools, CCTV footage and human intelligence, he added.

The police arrested four suspected members of the gang belonging to Peshawar and Karak, including the gang leader. During the investigation, it was revealed that the mastermind of the robbery was Ziaullah, while the bank security guard Abdul Rehman had facilitated the crime.

The police also recovered Rs3 million in cash, three pistols and a motorcycle from their possession.

The arrested individuals were identified as Zaryan Khushk, Abdul Malik, Ziaullah and Abdul Rehman.

Similarly, the Islamabad police traced and arrested the TCS gang involved in armed robberies in the Loi Bher area. They were wanted in a case registered on January 3, 2026.

Pakistani and foreign currency, gold jewellery and other valuables worth over Rs17.3 million were recovered from the possession of the suspects. The suspects obtained bogus SIM cards from illegal street vendors and used them to impersonate courier company representatives, calling citizens to collect parcels.

They would lure victims to the gates of their houses, enter homes by force, hold families hostage and snatch cash, gold, mobile phones and other valuables besides using digital banking apps to transfer funds to different accounts.

The arrested suspects were identified as Muneeb Sohail Rajput, Mohammad Faheem and Iftikhar Ahmed.

The RDU team also arrested three members of another gang involved in house thefts and recovered stolen valuables worth over Rs11.5 million along with weapons and ammunition used in the crimes.

The arrested individuals were identified as Sudhir, Abdul Rehman and Abdullah.

In the Kirpa police station, a blind murder case was registered, said the DIG. Police team used modern technical methods and CCTV footage and traced and arrested Adnan Shaukat Satti.

During the initial investigation, Satti revealed that he had sold his aunt’s house for

Rs6.8 million through Hamid Khan.

He said Khan received Rs500,000 as the earnest money from the purchaser. Satti said Khan kept Rs300,000 with himself and handed over Rs200,000 to him. A few days later, Khan demanded that the property should be transferred.

However, Satti could not complete the process and the deal was canceled.

The suspect stated that he lured Khan to an isolated plot under the pretext of showing him plots and shot him dead inside a car.

The DIG claimed that the ongoing indiscriminate operations against criminal elements had significantly reduced robberies and other serious crimes in the federal capital.
