• Bahraini interior minister condemns suicide attack on Islamabad imambargah
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the United States on Thursday agreed to promote partnership in the mining, minerals, and energy sectors.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs John Mark Pomeroy.
Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry, US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker, Interior Secretary Khurram Agha and senior officials were also present on the occasion.
Mr Pomeroy said the US attaches great importance to its relationship with Pakistan. He condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Islamabad and Quetta and expressed condolences to the victims.
Mr Naqvi welcomed US investment in the mining, minerals, and energy sectors and assured that American investors would be provided with the safest possible environment in Pakistan.
During the meeting, Pakistan-US bilateral relations and the regional situation were discussed, along with ways to enhance cooperation in counterterrorism, particularly in the field of internal security.
The interior minister said that global cooperation is essential in the fight against terrorism, and relations with the US are of key importance in this regard.
He emphasised that Pakistan believes in global partnerships to eliminate terrorism and promote investment.
Bahraini minister
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi received a telephone call from his Bahraini counterpart, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
The Bahraini interior minister strongly condemned the suicide attack at an imambargah in Islamabad.
He expressed deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs and extended sincere sympathies to the injured and affected individuals.
The Bahraini minister stated that an attack on a mosque is an attack against humanity.
He expressed profound grief over the loss of precious lives in the Islamabad blast and reaffirmed that Bahrain has always stood with Pakistan and will continue to stand by Pakistan in the future.
