ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Bangladesh on Sunday expressed keen interest in learning from each other’s best practices in human resource development and labour export, including recruitment processes, skills training and reintegration mechanisms for returning workers.
On the sidelines of the ‘Abu Dhabi Dialogue 2026’, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain held a meeting with Adviser to Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment of Bangladesh Dr Asif Nazrul in Dubai.
Highlighting the importance of structured collaboration, the two sides along with their respective delegations exchanged views on shared challenges faced by their overseas labour force and discussed best practices in skills development and training for expatriate workers, according to a press release of Pakistani consulate in Dubai. Senior officials of Pakistan and Bangladesh diplomatic missions in the UAE were also present.
The Pakistani side briefed the meeting on the role and initiatives of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission, while the Bangladeshi side shared insights into the operational framework of its Technical Training Centres.
The Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution chairman apprised the meeting of the institution’s mandate, functions, and role in providing social protection to workers.
The two sides also explored avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation.
Later, the minister for overseas Pakistanis also met secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers of the Philippines, Hans Leo J. Cacdac. At the meeting, the EOBI chairman briefed the participants on Pakistan’s social security framework, including eligibility criteria, benefit structures and disbursement mechanisms.
