PESHAWAR: At least two boys were injured in an explosion in the Domal area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu on Wednesday, according to Rescue 1122.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Akram Khan told Dawn that both boys are aged between 12 and 13 years, and one of the injured is in “critical condition”.

Sharing details of the incident, he said the boys had found a “toy-like suspicious object” on Bodeen Khel Road. “As soon as they picked it up, it exploded, leaving them injured,” he added.

He further stated that upon receiving information about the incident, a Rescue 1122 team reached the site and took the injured boys to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Teaching Hospital.

Today’s incident has taken place around two weeks after a bomb blast in Bannu, in which a former nazim of the Domel tehsil, Fida Muhammad Khan Wazir, was injured.
