RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Commissioner Amir Khattak on Monday conducted an on-site inspection of the construction work on the Kutchery Chowk remodeling project.

During the visit, officials of the relevant departments and the project team briefed the commissioner on the overall progress made so far.

The team said that construction work at Iftikhar Janjua Chowk is 30 per cent complete, at Kutchery Chowk 35 per cent , and 35 per cent work has completed at the Jinnah Park underpass , while retaining wall work has reached 91 per cent completion and utility duct work 44 per cent. Overall, the project has achieved 44 per cent completion.

The commissioner expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the project and directed that all construction activities be completed in accordance with the approved design and stipulated timeline.

He emphasised that progress should be monitored on a daily basis, and any gaps identified promptly and addressed without delay. The commissioner also instructed that strict implementation of the traffic management plan be ensured, clear identification of alternative routes be provided, and timely public awareness be given so that citizens face minimal inconvenience.

He further directed that high-quality materials be used in the construction of underground utility ducts, drainage and retaining walls, stating that any negligence or laxity would not be tolerated.

Regarding safety measures, he stressed the provision of safety equipment for workers at the site, installation of signboards and barriers, and implementation of all necessary precautions to prevent any untoward incidents.

He also emphasised maintaining cleanliness and discipline at the construction site, with the prompt removal of debris and keeping surrounding roads clean. Commissioner Rawalpindi instructed the relevant departments to work with effective mutual coordination and ensure the timely relocation and restoration of all utility services.

He stated that upon completion, the project would significantly improve traffic flow, save valuable time for citizens, and transform Kutcheri Chowk into a modern, safe, and aesthetically pleasing interchange, playing an important role in the overall development of Rawalpindi city.
