Trailer runs over, kills pedestrian in Korangi
KARACHI: Reckless driving claimed life of a young man in Korangi Industrial Area in the small hours of Saturday morning.
According to traffic police, the fatal accident took place near Brooks Chowrangi when the driver of a trailer hit an unidentified pedestrian, aged around 35, when he was crossing the road. He sustained critical injuries and was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
The driver responsible for the accident managed to escape, leaving behind the heavy vehicle that was impounded by the police.
The police attributed reckless and negligent driving as the main cause of the accident.
Stray bullet kills man
A motorcyclist was killed when a stray bullet hit him on the Nipa flyover in Gulshan-i-Iqbal late on Friday night, police said on Saturday.
Aziz Bhatti SHO Deedar Ali Abro said that the man, identified as Irfan Ali, 45, was traveling on the bike along with his maternal nephew when a bullet fired from an unknown direction hit him.
He was taken to the JPMC where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said the man sustained a bullet wound in the upper torso.
Meanwhile, a woman was gunned down near Janjal Goth off Superhighway on Friday night, police said.
