Two suspects killed in CCD ‘encounters’

TOBA TEK SINGH: A suspected robber and a most-wanted car-snatcher were killed in separate “encounters” with the Crime Control Department (CCD) teams – at Gojra and Faisalabad – late on Wednesday night.

According to the CCD, a patrolling team confronted four suspects on a motorcycle near Moongi Bangla. On seeing the police, the suspects allegedly opened fire, which was retaliated by the policemen.

When firing stopped, the police found one of the suspects was lying injured on the spot, while the three others had escaped.

The injured suspect was shifted to Gojra THQ Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as Atif Jat of Chak 315 JB, Kala Pahar, a shooter and a proclaimed offender, the police claim.

In another “encounter”, the Faisalabad Madina Town CCD team allegedly killed an inter-provincial car snatcher in crossfire.

The police claim that a car was signaled to stop on a picket on Dhanolla Road, but its five occupants opened fire, which was returned.

When the firing stopped, police found one of the suspects was lying wounded, while the others had fled. He was shifted to the Allied Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

He was identified as Shahzad Khichi of Kanjwani, Tandlianwala, wanted in 120 car-snatching cases registered in Punjab and Sindh. The police recovered two fake national identity cards, a police uniform, and a wireless set from him.

HEALTH CENTRE: Punjab social security department has established a Basic Health Centre (BHC) in Faisalabad’s Fiedmc Industrial Zone to provide healthcare facilities to the industrial workers and their families.

Social Security Commissioner Muhammad Ali inaugurated the BHC at a ceremony that was attended by Medical Advisor Dr Humaira Buzdar and Fiedmc CEO Mian Jameel Ahmed.

At the centre built by Fiedmc, social security department doctors and paramedics will deliver healthcare services.

A press release says the Fiedmc Industrial Zone comprises more than 200 industrial units, employing over 15,000 workers. These workers and their dependents will now have access to diagnostic services, medicines, and other healthcare facilities close to their workplace.

Commissioner Muhammad Ali also visited the Social Security Hospital at Madina Town, Faisalabad. He said that the 100-bed Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) Hospital is also being shifted to Madina Town, where a new building will be constructed.

RECOVERED: A four-and-a-half-year-old child kidnapped on Sept 26 from Iqbal Nagar locality of Faisalabad was recovered by Batala Colony police from Satiana on Thursday.

Police say they identified and traced the kidnapper, Usman, using modern technology and recovered the kidnapped boy, Tayyab Riaz.
