NA speaker, deputy donate one month’s salary to flood victims
ISLAMABAD: The speaker and deputy speaker of the National Assembly have decided to donate their one month’s salary to the victims of recent torrential rains and floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives due to flash floods in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
They extended heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the calamity and assured them that the entire nation stands in solidarity with those impacted during this difficult time.
Speaker Sadiq said the rehabilitation of flood victims is a collective national responsibility. He remarked that the people of Pakistan have always demonstrated unity, brotherhood and a spirit of sacrifice in times of adversity, and will once again ensure that those affected are not left alone in their time of need. He appealed to the public to actively contribute towards the relief and rehabilitation efforts for the flood victims.
Highlighting the severe devastation in Buner and other parts of the country, where countless families have been displaced and many individuals remain unaccounted for, he observed that although such losses are irreparable, the nation must unite to extend compassion and provide all possible support to the affected people.
Both the Speaker and Deputy Speaker offered prayers for the elevation of the ranks of those who lost their lives, for the swift recovery of the injured and for patience and strength to the bereaved families.
