Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud reports that the number of Palestinians killed while trying to access food has climbed to 700.

“We spoke with witnesses who described people being shot and killed, left lying in the areas where aid was being distributed,” he reports. “No one dared to pick them up because they were afraid of being shot as well.”

Mahmoud adds that only a few bodies have been recovered from these sites, transferred to hospitals and registered by health facilities in the central and southern regions.

“This is happening in a place where enforced dehydration and starvation is widespread,” he reports. “People are going hungry. They ration what little they have. Many families are not eating. Mothers are skipping meals to make sure their children have enough.”
