SAHIWAL: The sudden death of a60-year-old woman following a Rs 500 fine by the National Highway and Motorway Police on the Lahore-Khanewal section sparked controversy between her family and Beat 16 NHMP officials.

The family alleged that the woman suffered a fatal heart attack due to `intimidation’ by police which reportedly threatened to file an FIR against her son Ibrar for filming their interaction.

However, NHMP said the officer had simply asked for the video to be deleted, leading to a heated exchange between the woman’s son and the officer.

In an official statement, Atif Shahzad, Sector Commander of NHMP, ordered an inquiry into the matter.
