A Palestinian journalist, Moataz Raja, was assassinated by the Israeli army while covering its war in Gaza, Al Jazeera reports.

The Gaza Journalists Syndicate said that an Israeli aircraft targeted a civilian vehicle he was riding on al-Nafaq Street in Gaza City, killing him instantly.

The syndicate strongly condemned the attack, calling it a targeted killing aimed at silencing press freedom. At least 221 journalists have been killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023, according to the syndicate’s figures.
