The Health Ministry in Gaza has just released its latest daily update on the number of casualties due to Israeli attacks on the besieged and bombarded territory, Al Jazeera reports.

In a statement, it said that at least 79 fatalities and 163 injuries were recorded in hospitals in the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours.

The update does not include hospitals in the North Governorate due to the difficulty of accessing them.

The figures bring the number of people killed since the start of the onslaught to 54,056, with 123,129 others wounded. There are still a number of victims under the rubble and on the streets, and ambulance and civil defence crews are unable to reach them.
