Official vehicles gutted in excise dept warehouse fire
PESHAWAR: At least seven vehicles were gutted when fire erupted in an excise department’s warehouse near the motorway here on Sunday, officials said.
They said the fire broke out in an excise, taxation and narcotics control department warehouse, where scrapped vehicles of several government departments were parked,
The officials said that although there were many vehicles, only seven were gutted while around 300 were saved by rescue 1122 firefighters, who reached the spot and controlled the situation.
Officials sources, while sharing the incident report said that the fire erupted near the boundary wall of the warehouse at around 5pm due to sparks in the electricity transmission lines passing over the boundary wall of the warehouse.
They added that the on-duty staff of the warehouse and excise police station immediately called Rescue 1122, adding that the firefighters arrived at about 5:10pm and started their work. Their timely response saved state property worth millions, the officials said.
