RAWALPINDI: Expressing concern over delay registration of FIRs and submission of DNA reports in heinous cases, the city police officer (CPO) Rawalpindi has directed officials concerned to ensure timely registration of cases.

In a directive to SPs of Rawal, Potohar and Saddar divisions, the CPO said it had been noticed that the DNA reports of many cases of rape, gang rape, murder and child abuse had not been received so far from Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) whereas the cases were under trial in courts.

He asked the SPs that due to lack of attention by their subordinates, the police had to face awkward situations during the proceeding of cases in the courts.

Furthermore, the CPO informed the SPs that their SHOs and IOs had also not been appearing in courts on the designated dates.

The CPO directed the SPs to ensure the appearance of concerned investigating officers in heinous cases in the courts and to get the DNA reports from PFSA. He also sought reports about murder, rape, gang rape and child abuse cases with FIRs, dates of samples submitted to PFSA and status of the cases.

On the other hand, SSP Operations Kashif Zulfiqar has taken notice of the delay in registration of FIRs and said it was a clear violation of the orders of senior police officers.

He directed the SPs of Rawal, Potohar and Saddar divisions to ensure the timely registration of FIRs. In case of violation of his orders, strict departmental action would be initiated against the responsible, he added.
