ISLAMABAD: The embassy of Uzbekistan hosted a vibrant and culturally rich celebration on Friday night to mark Nauroz, the festival of renewal and new beginnings. 

The event, attended by diplomats, government officials and friends of the embassy, highlighted the deep historical and cultural significance of Nauroz.

This year’s festivities held special significance as Nauroz coincided with Ramazan, bringing together the themes of renewal, unity, and generosity. The gathering featured a traditional Ramazan Iftar, reinforcing the shared values of kindness, togetherness, and gratitude.

Addressing the attendees, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtayev underscored the cultural and spiritual essence of Nauroz, emphasising its universal message of peace, harmony and the victory of light over darkness. The festival, which transcends borders, languages, and ethnic backgrounds, was described as a unifying force for millions across Central Asia, the Middle East, Caucasus and South Asia, he said.

The event also showcased the rich traditions of Uzbekistan, where Nauroz was deeply embedded in the cultural fabric of society. Special mention was made of Sumalak, a beloved Nauroz dish symbolising prosperity and patience. Guests were treated to this traditional delicacy, reinforcing the spirit of friendship, brotherhood and unity between the people of Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

The celebration further highlighted the strong historical ties and shared cultural heritage between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. The host expressed gratitude for the enduring friendship between the two nations and reiterated a commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and people-to-people connections.

In a world grappling with numerous challenges, the Nauroz festival served as a reminder of the importance of mutual respect, peace, and renewal. The event concluded with prayers for prosperity, good health, and continued progress for both nations, the ambassador said.

The host extended congratulations to the people of Pakistan on the upcoming Pakistan Day celebrated on March 23 wishing the country continued success and development.
