RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Cabinet Committee on Law and Order on Friday asked the district administrations and police of six districts of Rawalpindi division to ensure peace on Eid Miladun Nabi.
“No new route or new innovation will be allowed for the peaceful conduct of Eid Miladun Nabi (peace be upon him),” Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said.
On the special instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, drinks and sweets will be served across Punjab to the participants of milad processions. He said that best security arrangements had been made for the routes of all the main processions and for celebrations of Milad events.
Mr Rafique presided over a meeting of the cabinet committee and reviewed the arrangements.
Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Sports Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar, Special Assistant Zeeshan Malik, NNAs and MPAs from Rawalpindi division also participated in the meeting at the commissioner office here.
Secretary Home Noorul Amin Mengal and IGP Dr Usman Anwar gave a briefing on law and order situation and government initiatives for peace in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, the chairman of the cabinet committee, Mr Rafique said the birth of the Prophet (peace be upon him) will be celebrated with full devotion and respect.
He said that arrangements were completed in consultation with the peace committees across the province.
Welcoming suggestions from members of the provincial assembly, the finance minister said public representatives should play their active role to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the region along with the administration.
The sports minister said the role of scholars was the most important for ensuring religious harmony. He said scholars should be kept on board during all arrangements so that they spread the message of peace and tolerance in their followers.
The special assistant said that it was the social and religious duty of every Muslim to celebrate Eid Miladun Nabi with religious decorum and take necessary steps for ensuring peace and harmony by publicising the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Commissioner Aamir Khattak, Regional Police Officer Babar Sarfraz Alpa, Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema and CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani gave a briefing about the arrangements.
