EU spokesperson Peter Stano says because Cyprus is a member of the bloc, “the EU is Cyprus and Cyprus is the EU,” Al Jazeera reports.

Stano made the comments after the head of Hezbollah threatened the nearby island nation if it opened its airports or bases to Israel “to target Lebanon”.

“Any threat against one of our member states is a threat against the EU,” Stano said.
