US vice president says there has been an ‘uptick’ in anti-Palestinian, antisemitic hate
In a statement marking Eidul Azha, US Vice President Kamala Harris has said that Muslims in the US have “endured a disproportionate number of hate-fuelled attacks”, adding that there has only been a rise in bigotry since October 7, Al Jazeera reports.
“We have witnessed an uptick in anti-Palestinian, anti-Arab, antisemitic, and Islamophobic incidents across America over the last eight months,” she said.
Harris continued Eid al-Adha comes at a difficult time for Muslims in the US due to the “immense suffering” caused by the crisis in Gaza, which “weighs heavily on our hearts”.
“Our Administration is working every day to bring this war to an end, free all hostages, deliver humanitarian relief, relieve the suffering of the Palestinian people, and build a future of security, freedom, and dignity for Palestinians and Israelis,” she said.
