Aid supply to Gaza via US pier not resumed yet as working to ensure ‘secure conditions’: UN official
The United Nations has said it has still not resumed transportation of aid from the US-built pier to UN World Food Programme warehouses, Reuters reports.
“Our security colleagues are still working to ensure that secure conditions for humanitarian work can be re-established,” said deputy UN spokesperson Farhan Haq.
US President Joe Biden announced in March the plan to put the pier in place for aid deliveries as famine loomed in Gaza during Israel’s military campaign in the enclave of 2.3 million people.
