Pedro Sanchez is delivering a speech to MPs presenting Spain’s policy on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Al Jazeera reports.

The prime minister said Israel’s “disproportionate response” in its onslaught on Gaza risks “destabilising the Middle East, and as a consequence, the entire world”.

Sanchez added that the recognition of a Palestinian state, which has long been resisted by Israel and its allies, is “in Europe’s geopolitical interests”.
