Pakistan urges UNSC to impose ban on export of weapons to Israel

Pakistan has urged the United Nations Security Council to take appropriate steps to ensure the implementation of its resolution that called for the enforcement of a ceasefire in Gaza, Radio Pakistan reports.

Speaking during the General Assembly debate on the use of the veto on the situation in the Middle East, Ambassador Munir Akram urged the UNSC to impose a ban on the export of weapons to Israel as well as hold the Israeli occupation authorities responsible for their crimes against the Palestinians.

The envoy reiterated Pakistan’s unflinching support for the admission of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations.

Acknowledging the subsequent adoption of the UNSC resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza, Ambassador Akram expressed disappointment in Israel’s non-compliance with the resolution.
