Delivery of aid ‘desperately needed’ in Gaza
The delivery of aid is desperately needed in Gaza, especially for a largely displaced and traumatised population in the northern part, where there is an actual famine, Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud reports.
Yesterday, a two-month-old baby and a 17-year-old girl died of starvation and malnutrition, according to Mahmoud.
“The whole aid mechanism is broken. Since the initial weeks of the war, there have been restrictions and limitations on the entry of aid trucks into the Gaza Strip as well as on the amount of items and medical supplies that are allowed to be delivered,” he said.
Mahmoud reported that the ongoing, intense bombing campaigns posed extreme restrictions on the ground when it comes to aid.
He said that delivery crews found it very difficult as workers had no safety guaranteed when moving to designated distribution points.
