Animals die of starvation at Gaza zoo

Officials in Gaza say animals have died of starvation at a zoo in the besieged enclave amid an Israeli siege that prevented staff from reaching the compound to feed the animals, Al Jazeera reports.

Two workers were injured as they attempted to reach the facility in the Zeitoun neighbourhood, east of Gaza City, which has been damaged as the Israeli army continues its incursion in Gaza.

About 100 animals, including lions, monkeys, wolves and birds, were housed in the zoo.
