Algeria’s UN resolution would make no impact on the ground: US envoy

The US deputy envoy to the UN Robert Wood has said that Washington decided to put forward its proposal because it believes the Algerian one will not make things better on the ground.

“We are very concerned about the overall situation there [in Gaza]. It is getting worse every day … and we want to do something that can impact what is going on on the ground,” he told Al Jazeera.

“We just think the Algerian resolution is not going to have that impact that we think it is important,” Wood said.

“That is why we are looking at other options to see what we can do from a practical standpoint to really make a difference on the ground,” Wood added.
