Arab public opinion poll shows near-unanimous solidarity with Palestinians
The poll, conducted by the Arab Centre for Research and Policy Studies, surveyed 8,000 people from 16 Arab countries on their views on the Gaza conflict, Al Jazeera reports.
It showed that Arabs throughout the Middle East and North Africa are deeply engaged with the conflict with 80 per cent saying they regularly follow news of the conflict closely and 97pc saying they have experienced “psychological stress” from it.
Ninety-one per cent of respondents expressed solidarity with Palestinians, and 92pc said their plight should be of concern to all Arabs.
Many respondents also said they had lost respect for the US government due to its staunch military backing of Israel during the conflict. Ninety-four percent expressed a negative view of the US policy while 76pc said their view of the US had diminished.
