The international community has an obligation to organise security in Gaza after the conflict, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said on a visit to Egypt, Reuters reports.

She called for a revamped Palestinian Authority to play a key role in governing Gaza after the Israeli offensive, adding that Hamas should lay down its arms, according to Al Jazeera.

Baerbock, who is expected to visit the Rafah crossing today, also appealed for more urgent aid.
