Protestors sit outside Israeli Knesset calling for new election
Dozens of people are sitting in protest outside the Knesset parliament building in Jerusalem calling for the government to resign and for an election to be held, Al Jazeera reports.
Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has grown deeply unpopular in recent months for its failure to stop the October 7 attack and its subsequent handling of the conflict in Gaza.
Earlier it was reported that an Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation poll showed that 64 per cent of Israelis believe that Netanyahu’s performance has not been good enough after 90 days of war.
A second poll found that 46pc of Israelis believe National Unity Party leader Benny Gantz is the most suitable person to lead the country, compared with just 25pc for Netanyahu.
