UK’s Hunt says economy may be impacted by shipping attacks

The UK’s finance minister, Jeremy Hunt, has said attacks by the Houthi movement in Yemen on Red Sea shipping lanes could have an impact on the British economy through rising prices, Al Jazeera reports.

Asked whether the attacks by the group could mean rising prices in Britain, Hunt told the BBC: “It may have an impact, and we’ll watch it very, very carefully.”

In a massive rally across Yemen yesterday, the Houthis vowed to continue their attacks with the goal of stopping Israel’s war on Gaza and avenging their fallen fighters who died in a standoff with US forces.
