Balochistan more peaceful now than before: Langove

QUETTA: Balochistan Minister for Home Affairs Mir Ziaullah Langove has said law and order in the province is far better than in the past, asserting that a few incidents could not jeopardise the overall situation as the administration, along with security forces, was taking measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

He expressed these views during an interaction with the media after visiting the Quetta district jail here on Monday. He said the government was not ignoring the recent incidents and both government and security forces were taking all measures to ensure protection of life and property of the people.

Referring to his visit to the jail, the minister said the government was working on a plan to introduce jail reforms with the aim to provide facilities to local and foreign prisoners in Balochistan jails.

Special Secretary Salahuddin Nourzai, IG Prisons Shuja Ahmed Kasi, PDMA director general Naseer Ahmed Nasar and jail superintendent Ishaq Zehri also accompanied the minister.

“It is our desire to help male and female prisoners become honourable citizens when they come out of jail, after serving their term, by giving them opportunities of obtaining education and skills learning,” Mr Langove said.

The government was also taking steps to resolve the issues faced by jail employees and police. Talking about increase in their salaries and other facilities, he said soon a summary would be moved in the cabinet for a decision.
