RAWALPINDI: The President has appointed Major-Gen (retired) Jamal Dar as Minister of State, it was officially stated here today [Nov 2]. The President administered the oath of office to retired Maj-Gen Jamal Dar at the Presidency… . This is the first time that a representative from the tribal areas has been appointed as Minister in the Central Government. … Jamal Dar … is an MNA from the frontier region of Kohat. … [H]e hails from the Orakzai tribe of Tirah. — News agencies
[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies in Islamabad,] The Government of Pakistan will make at least 30 million dollars available within November to private industrialists for setting up new industries in the country… . Another thirty million dollars will be provided later on for other industrial units. The total amount of dollar 60 million will be disbursed through the financing institutions — Pakistan Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation (PICIC) and Industrial Development Bank of Pakistan (IDBP).
