Two terror suspects arrested: police

ISLAMABAD: Two suspects allegedly affiliated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were arrested and explosives, detonators and other materials were recovered from them, police claimed on Thursday.

The police said the suspects were produced in court from where they were given in police custody on a week’s physical remand.

The arrest was made by a surveillance team of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in response to tip given by an informer, they claimed.

According to the FIR, a team was present at GT Road near Sangjani toll plaza where it was informed about two suspects carrying explosive materials in a nullah. In response, the team reached there and cordoned off the nullah and arrested them, it added.

During the preliminary interrogation, the suspects disclosed their identification, the FIR said, adding the bomb disposal squad of the capital police was called to the spot.

During search, five packets of explosives, four batteries, a dozen prima cords, safety fuse wires, seven detonators and iron nails were recovered from them, the FIR said, adding the five packets carried six kg explosives.
