SWABI: The Dispute Resolution Council (DRC) here on Sunday peacefully settled the 30 years old dispute over 18,000 kanals of common land property among the people of three villages.
The land dispute among the three villages of Pontya, Kotha and Klabat in Topi tehsil persisted since 1992, about which a case had been pending in the revenue department and now in the court as well.
In this regard, the Swabi DRC members led by Fazal Ahad Bacha and other area leaders started efforts for resolution of the dispute.
They finally convinced the elders of the three villages and a ceremony to announce amicable settlement of the issue was held at Mr Bacha’s residence in Bankhel.
Retired commissioner Montazer Khan, Swabi DC Sanaullah Khan and DPOMohammad Shoaib, in whose presence the consent was given, praised those who contributed to the settlement.
A mechanism has been devised for distribution of the disputed land among the three villages and the DRC members would supervise the entire process. Finally, the documents of respective land would be signed to protect the future generations from confrontation.
Ahad Bacha said the provincial government hadconstituted the DRC for resolving disputes. In the end, a collective prayer was offered for the implementation of the agreement and peace and brotherhood among the people of the villages.
BURGLAR TRACED: The police traced and arrested the suspect for burglary at a house here on Sunday, said district police officer Mohammad Shoaib.
Two weeks ago, complainant Fatehullah, a resident Banda Oboo, reported to the local police that he had gone outside along with his family and when they returned they found that locks of the rooms were broken and things scattered inside.
Fatehullah said they noted that three pairs of gold earrings were missing and he had registered an FIR in Kalu Khan police station.
Razaar DSP Shafiur Rehman said the police after investigations arrested the suspect Sohail Khan, who is a relative of the plaintiff, and recovered the earrings from him.
