PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakthunkhwa government has approved Rs299 million for appointment of consultants to carry out feasibility study, detailed planning and designing of the proposed Gandhara Valley City and construction of an approach road from the GT Road.

It is to mention here that the provincial assembly has already adopted the Peshawar Development Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2021, for acquiring the land for the proposed Gandhara City.

The bill has empowered the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) to acquire land and allot developed plots to the landowner under the generally known one-fourth formula.

The PDA has already issued tenders, seeking proposals from the interested firms to be selected under the quality and cost-based selection criteria.

Keeping in view the construction boom, the provincial government has extended the PDA jurisdiction to six more localities of the provincial capital.

The new areas proposed to be notified as the authority’s area include Kohat Road up to Peshawar urban limits, Nasir Bagh Road commencing from Jamrud Road, Warsak Road from Khyber Road till northern bypass, Charsadda Road commencing from Bacha Khan Chowk up to 7.5 kilometres, and all areas notified for the Gandhara City.
