LAHORE: The Punjab government on Tuesday appointed Zulfiqar Ahmad Ghuman as commissioner of Lahore Division.
Mr Ghuman, a BS-20 officer of the Provincial Management Service (PMS), was serving as Higher Education Department secretary before being assigned the new job.
According to a notification, Mr Ghuman was relieved from the post of HED secretary and posted as Lahore commissioner against a vacant post, relieving Lahore Deputy Commissioner Danish Afzal of the additional charge of the post.
It further states that Muhammad Naeem Ghaus, HED special secretary has been given the additional charge of the post of HED secretary in addition to his own duties and till the posting of a regular incumbent.
Mr Ghuman is the 16th HED secretary replaced during the last three years. The PTI government did not appoint any permanent HED secretary as it had been giving additional charge of the post to different officials.
The officers who had been holding the post of HED secretary for brief periods include Khalid Saleem, Imran Sikandar Baloch, Sarah Aslam, Sajid Dall, Capt (R) Muhammad Mahmood (just for one day), Momin Agha (for less than two months) and Shaukat Ali.
