Survey of rain, snow damage starts in Bajaur

KHAR: The authorities here have started a survey to assess the damage and losses caused by recent rains and snowfall in Bajaur tribal district.

Officials said here on Thursday that the survey was launched a day after a meeting of senior officials of the district administration and line departments, which was chaired by deputy commissioner Usman Mehsud on Wednesday.

It was decided that data would be collected of the damaged houses and other financial losses the local residents suffered in the recent heavy rains and snowfall.

They said that several teams, including officials of district administration and Levies force, had been formed to visit the affected houses across the district.

They said that the survey teams had also been tasked to collect data about the affected home appliances and cattle besides the houses damaged during rains.

They said that the teams visited different areas of the region on Thursday to collect the data.

Meanwhile, the residents confirmed that the survey teams visited their areas to collect data of the damaged house and other properties.

They said that a number of houses had collapsed in different parts of the region. They said that scores of cattle were also killed and wounded during the rain and snow fall.

Meanwhile, Akbar Khan, a resident of Rahmanabad area of Khar tehsil, succumbed to his injuries here on Thursday. He was critically wounded in a rain-related incident three days ago.
