PML-N, PPP to set up reception camps

LAHORE: Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s Azadi March will reach the Punjab capital late on Tuesday night.

The JUI-F chief is scheduled to address at least at two points in the City: Thoker Niaz Beg and Minar-i-Pakistan lawns.

A senior party leader said that the marchers would leave Multan on Tuesday morning and reach Lahore in the evening. After staying for the night in the provincial metropolis, they will then leave for Islamabad on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, the PML-N is setting up six reception camps in the City for the marchers. These will be set up at Thoker, Samanabad Mor, Chaubuji, Bhati, Minar-i-Pakistan and Shahdara Mor.

Party MNAs and MPAs of the relevant constituencies have been asked to make preparations in this respect.

PML-N secretary-general Ahsan Iqbal says party activists will join the march from Lahore and reach the federal capital. He says that party president Shahbaz Sharif will join the march in Islamabad.Meanwhile, PPP central Punjab will set up a dozen reception camps for the Azadi March from Sahiwal to Islamabad.

PPP Punjab Secretary General Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed said thousands of PPP workers would receive the march participants at the 12 reception camps to be established on the route of the March in central Punjab.

He said the first camp would be set up at Pakpattan Chowk on the National Highway in Sahiwal, second at Okara bypass, third at Pattoki bypass, fourth at Thoker Niaz Baig, fifth at Shahdara near Kot Shahab Din on the GT Road, sixth at Ferozewala, seventh at Sheranwala Bagh in Gujranwala, eighth at the Chenab River bridge near Gujrat, ninth at the Jhelum River bridge, 10th at Gujjar Khan, 11th at T-Chowk near Rawat and 12th at Faizabad in Rawalpindi.

Mr Manzoor said the PPP Jiyalas carrying party flags and banners would receive the march participants at all the reception camps.
