Gang-rape suspects remanded in police custody

RAWALPINDI: Four people, including three Rawat police officials, accused of raping a woman have been remanded into police custody for five days, and underwent DNA testing on Sunday by the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PSFA).

The city police officer (CPO) has said that he has directed the investigating officer to complete the charge-sheet in this case within 11 days. A preliminary medical report confirmed that the victim was raped.

The 21-year-old victim told police she was visiting Bahria Town Phase 8 with a friend for Sehri between May 15 and May 16 when a car stopped near theirs. She said four men disembarked and pulled them out of the car at gunpoint.

She said she was dragged into the car and taken to a deserted area along the side of road, and raped by the four men. She told police the rapists also injured her, as there were bite marks on her body.

She said they dropped her near her hostel at 4am and fled.

The victim identified all four suspects and asked the police to register a case against them.
