Man booked for ‘threatening’ girl

ISLAMABAD: A man was booked by the capital police on the charge of assaulting, humiliating and threatening a female student and her friend after she refused to marry him.

Police said the girl was living with her friend in a house located at G-11/1.

She lodged a complaint with the police against the man which led to the registration of a case against him under section 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with an intent to outrage her modesty), 506ii (criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan penal Code and section 25-D of the Telegraph Act.

According to the FIR, the girl became acquainted with the suspect, a resident of Ghauri Town. He proposed to her but the girl later learnt that the man was already married and had children.

When the girl tried to break up with him, the man started threatening her.

A week ago, he came to her residence and called her outside. The man pulled out a pistol and threatened and punched her in front of her friend. He also aimed the pistol at her friend and hit her with the gun.

Later, he made threatening calls and used foul language against the complainant.

A video clip showing the armed man threatening the two girls went viral on social media. He is also seen asking one of them to sit on the ground and tender an apology to him.

When contacted, Ramna police said after registration of the case the police have started efforts to trace and arrest the man. But his whereabouts are not known, they said.

The police approached the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and sought its help in his arrest.

The FIA was also requested to intercept the suspect if he tried to leave the country.

But the police later learnt that the suspect had already left the country and was in China from where he called one of his friends and asked about the case registered against him.

The video clip was about a week old and the suspect left the country two or three days ago, said the police.

The police also said there were reports that the complainant had borrowed over Rs2.52 million from the suspect and failed to return it. A few days ago, she had given a cheque for Rs2.8 million to the man.
