Health and hygiene: Mobile app to help students in 12 schools

LAHORE: A customised mobile application to promote healthy trends among schoolchildren will be introduced in 12 selected educational institutions during the current week.

This was stated by Minister for Health Dr Yasmin Rashid while speaking to the media outside the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday.

She said the application had been developed in collaboration with the Education Department and the Policy and Strategic Planning Unit (PSPU).

Dr Yasmin said that in the first phase, students of six schools each of girls and boys would be screened and medical tests of ear, nose, throat, teeth, skin and eyes would be conducted. She said the students would also be taught about benefits of games and other physical exercises to create greater immunity among them.

Dr Yasmin said that by establishing facility centres for the malnourished kids, a number of health targets could easily be achieved. “We believe that mother and child health are essential for making our society healthy,” said the minister.
