Heads of 21 police stations shuffled again

ISLAMABAD: In yet another major shakeup in the capital police, the station house officers (SHOs) of 21 police stations were transferred on Thursday.

However, a majority of them were given the same post in other police stations.

Earlier, a similar shuffling was made before the July 25 general elections.

The capital has 22 police stations, including one for woman. Out of these, the SHOs of 14 police stations were transferred from one police station to other and seven were replaced with new faces.

The police have the strength of 150 inspectors and 400 sub-inspectors but only a few of them meet the criteria to become the SHO.

“These few officers are capable and competent to run and manage the affairs of the police stations,” a police officer said, adding the rest are either unwilling to get the post or had no capabilities for it.

Out of the 22 SHOs, some were suspended on a number of occasions on different charges but they managed to get back the posts.

Senior Superintendent of Police (operations) Najeebur Rehman Bugvi made the transfers. Inspector Khalid Mahmood Awan was appointed as the SHO Aabpara, Inspector Ashiq Mohammad SHO Banigala, Inspector Hakim Khan (Bhara Kahu), Inspector Athar Khan (Margalla), Inspector Mohamamd Arshad (Shalimar), Inspector Jamshed Khan (Ramna), Inspector Arshad Ali (Golra), Inspector Irshad Ali Abro (Industrial Area), Inspector Anees Akbar (Shams Colony), Inspector Asjad Mahmood (Sabzi Mandi), Inspector Ghulam Qasim (Koral), Inspector Haq Nawaz Ranjah (Nilore), Inspector Mohammad Bashir (Shahzad Town) and Inspector Sajjad Hussain Bukhari SHO Loi Bher.

Sub-Inspector Abudl Razzaq was appointed as the SHO Kohsar, SI Habibur Rehman SHO Karachi Company, SI Mohammad Iqbal Gujar SHO Tarnol, SI Alamgir Khan SHO Noon, SI Liaquat Ali SHO Khanna, SI Mohammad Gulfraz SHO Sihala and ASI Samina Sarwar SHO women police station.

Inspector Fiaz Ahmed Ranjha was appointed as in-charge of Anti-Car Lifting Cell while inspectors Abid Ikran, Ulfat Arif, Qaisar Niaz Gilani and Mohammad Fiaz Shanwari were transferred to the Safe City Field Office.
