PM to be briefed on land grabbing in capital

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will be briefed about the land mafia and its activities in the capital.

Adviser to Prime Minister on Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan on Tuesday directed Chief Commissioner Islamabad Joudat Ayaz and Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Ishrat Ali to give a presentation to the premier on land grabbing on Friday, said a senior officer of the capital administration.

The local administration deals with land located in the capital’s rural area while land in the urban area or sectors comes under the control of the CDA.

The two officers were asked to include in the presentation details about the state land occupied by the land mafia and influential people, including politicians and government officials. The presentation will also include details about illegal constructions on government and private land.

The heads of the two departments were asked to present suggestions to get vacated the state land from illegal occupation. Details were also asked about officials who were allegedly hand in gloves with land grabbers.

The commissioner and the CDA chief were also directed to come up with suggestions to make the capital more beautiful and greener besides recommendations to protect the greenery and wooded area.

During a meeting at the Chief Commissioner Office, the adviser to the prime minister was briefed about issues being faced by the two departments. In response, the adviser asked them to also include in the presentation the details of the issues.
