Challenge Cup soccer
LAHORE, May 31: Six matches will be played on the opening day of the first national football Challenge Cup to be held in five different cities on Wednesday. In all, 34 teams are competing in the inaugural edition and top 12 teams will be honoured with cash prizes worth around Rs one million. The winners will pocket Rs300,000, the runners-up Rs200,000 the third place holders Rs150,000.
The teams which will claim fourth to eighth position will earn Rs 100,000, Rs 75,000, Rs 50,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 30,000.
Teams coming 9th and 10th will receive Rs25,000 each while Rs20,000 each are to be given to the 11th and the 12th ranking teams.
