Police get increase of Rs69 million in budget

ISLAMABAD: The capital police will get an increase of Rs69 million in its budget for the fiscal year 2018-19.

The police had been allocated over Rs6.427 billion for the year 2017-18 and now an amount of Rs6.496 billion has been set aside for it for the next financial year.

The police have a sanctioned strength of 12,014 officers and officials but currently 11,044 staff members are working with the force.

There will be an increase of Rs29 million for the operating expenses - from Rs400 million in the fiscal year 2017-18 to Rs429 million in the next fiscal year.

The police had to spend Rs484 million during the current financial against the allocation of Rs400 million due to a number of engagements in law and order situation, including the Faizabad sit-in.

The budget for the physical assets and repair and maintenance has been decreased to Rs791 million from Rs885 million and to Rs347 million from Rs410 million, respectively.

An amount of Rs564 million has been allocated for the newly-constituted Rapid Response Force.

The chief commissioner office budget has also been increased to Rs1,499 million against the current year’s Rs935 million.

The deputy commissioner office had been allocated Rs1,347 million for the current year while for the next year its allocation has been increased to Rs1,592 million.
