Three Indian soldiers killed in LoC firing, claim police

SRINAGAR: Police alleged on Saturday that three Indian soldiers were killed in India-held Kashmir along the Line of Control, in the latest skirmish with Pakistani troops.

The soldiers were killed in the Rajouri sector after Pakistani troops started firing across the de facto border, claimed Shesh Paul Vaid, the director general of police in the disputed Himalayan region.

“Initial reports say three soldiers were killed during [a] BAT operation,” Vaid said, referring to the “Border Action Teams” that Indian officials allege are made up of Pakistani troops and militants.

Vaid added that an officer was among the dead, and another soldier was injured.

There was no immediate response from Pakistani authorities to the Indian claims.
