Country prepares to celebrate Pakistan Day

Pakistan Day commemorates the passing of the Lahore Resolution, when a separate nation for the Muslims of the British Indian Empire was demanded on March 23, 1940 as well as the declaration of the republic on the same day in 1956.

However, the day's true greatness is more universal as it demonstrates the ideology of the independence movement; justice for the masses through constitutional measures ranging from electoral safeguards to guaranteed representation in state institutions.

It was this day that the Muslim League declared its demand for a separate homeland to safeguard the sanctity of the rights of the 30 million Muslims in British India.

The Government of Punjab shared a video showing Lahore devoured in a magnificent display of colourful lights, all lit up to celebrate Pakistan.

With a background score vintage to Pakistan's music history and lots of candid pictures, US Ambassador to Pakistan David Hale affirmed that America would continue to work with Pakistan on shared interests.

"Believe in yourselves. Believe in your future," Ambassador Hale said in his message to the Pakistani nation.

Radio Pakistan, state's media agency, gave the public a look into the dress rehearsal of the Pakistan Day parade to be held in Islamabad.

And when we're talking of celebrating Pakistan, how could we leave cricket behind?

The Peshawar Zalmi owner, Javed Afridi, sharing his patriotism for the country, said that all five times in the league are a "joint force of a national spirit".

Last but not the least, Pakistan Army ended the day preceding to celebrations of March 23 on a high note, with stunning visuals as well as music and a message from the country's own army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

In its tweet with a short video, the Inter-Services Public Relations said, "Let us pledge today to clean 'Our Pakistan' from fasaadis".
