Story Time: ESA Kids

If you think Nasa is the only organisation that researches and explores the cosmos, then you are absolutely wrong. There are several other countries having their agencies researching the space/planets, etc., one of which is European Space Agency (ESA).

ESA is made up of 20 countries working together as a team on many different space projects like making rockets and satellites, etc.

Today we will be visiting the outer space with ESA Kids — an educational websites for kids who like to discover space in a fun way.

The site is very interesting. Why? Because most of it is animated! Users can navigate the site either through the main menu on top or by going first through the fun sections on the left pane.

But let’s just explore what’s in the main menu, that is ‘Our Universe,’ where users will be surprised to find a colourful animated cute alien that takes them to the space adventure and tells all about our cosmos, stars galaxies, planets and their seasons (all animated). Then there is ‘Life in space,’ where the alien tells about astronauts’ life in space, how they take a shower, eat or experiment.

In ‘Technology,’ users are told about rockets, communication/weather/navigation satellites, and in ‘Earth,’ it tells about how these satellites work in helping humans on Earth.

There is a lot of other impressive materials on the site. For example, in the left panel, kids can go through fun activities where they’ll find colouring a book, an art gallery, puzzles, quizzes and even free downloads of space wallpapers and a ‘Paxi fun book’ and can print them to colour and do activities like making puzzles, dot to dot, find the differences and much more.

On the same side, the section ‘Lab’ introduces takes visitors to building or trying out small stuff and experiments at home. The ‘News’ section tells about all the current events taking place at ESA, their missions, etc. Space enthusiasts can explore these and much more on http://www.esa.int/esaKIDSen/
