Rangers’ powers extended for 77 days

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Tuesday signed the summary of extending the powers of Rangers under the Anti-Terrorism Act for 77 days as was received from the home department, Dawn has learnt.

He also received Director General of Pakistan Ranger, Sindh, Major General Bilal Akbar, who called on him at CM House.

During their meeting, the DG of Rangers discussed the issues pertaining to the overall law and order situation, ongoing targeted operation, progress of terrorists’ cases in courts and other such related matters with the chief minister.

The chief minister said that the successful targeted operation had produced tangible results and now the law and order situation in the city was quite satisfactory.
