Army chief meets Turkish president, PM

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif, who is on an official visit to Turkey, called on Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday.

According to a tweet of the director general, Inter Services Public Relations, the Turkish leaders appreciated Pakistan’s role for regional peace and Pakistan Army’s contribution towards defeating terrorism.

The Turkish leadership emphasised fraternal ties between the two nations.

The COAS assured the Turkish leadership and brothers of total support in handling their security challenges.

The army chief also held meetings with the Turkish defence minister and chief of general staff and expressed satisfaction on the defence cooperation between the two countries. Both sides vowed to enhance defence collaboration.
