Govt has nothing to do with cases against Gilani, says Nisar

ISLAMABAD: The PML-N has nothing to do with cases registered against former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, says Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

Presiding over a meeting here on Tuesday, Chaudhry Nisar said that not a single case against Mr Gilani was registered by the present government. The government has talked neither in his favour nor against him.

The minister did not mention details or title of the case, but it is assumed that he was talking about the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan’s scam.

It was a serious case and it was being processed according to the law, he added.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had completed the investigation and submitted it in a court of law, the minister said.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the heads of Nadra and Nacta.

Chaudhry Nisar said he did not want to talk about the Dr Imran Farooq murder case because it was under investigation.

The minister showed his desire to revamp Nacta (National Counter-Terrorism Authority) as premier authority of the country, saying that the prime minister was agreed to release funds for it.

He said the work for mapping of religious seminaries operating in Punjab and Islamabad had been completed, adding that other provinces had failed to do so.

He asked the Nacta chairman to seek reasons of the delay from those provinces.

The minister issued directives for collecting details of funding of seminaries from local and international sources.
